FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is the retreat for?

This retreat is for sincere students of Yoga, Ayurveda, Shakti sadhana and Vedic wisdom who wish to deepen their understanding in a contemplative, natural setting. Many participants will have prior study experience, though a spirit of openness and respect for the tradition is most important. For those who have no experience with Vedic teachings this will be an awaking opportunity to understand your deeper self.

Where exactly is the Retreat and how do I get there?

The retreat takes place at Renewal Retreat Centre, a peaceful rural setting near Belgrave, Ontario. Participants may arrive by car or fly into a nearby airport and continue by rental car or arranged transport.

The closest major airport is Toronto Pearson International Airport, approximately 2.5 hours from the retreat location. A smaller regional airport, London International Airport, may also be convenient depending on your point of departure. Participants driving from London or surrounding areas will find the retreat within easy reach by car.

Detailed travel guidance will be provided upon registration. Closer to the retreat date, we will also help facilitate ride-sharing connections among participants who wish to coordinate travel.

What does a typical day look like?

Each day includes gentle Ayurvedic yoga asana with meditation and mantra, talks, dialogue, contemplative practices, shared meals, and spacious time for rest, play or reflection. There is a natural rhythm to our days, with time both in community and in solitude.

A more detailed schedule will be shared closer to the retreat.

When does the retreat begin and end?

The retreat begins at 3:00pm on Thursday, August 20 and concludes at 11:00am on Monday, August 24.

What are the accommodation options?

Shared and private cabin options are available onsite. Cabins are simple, comfortable, and immersed in nature. All accommodations are within walking distance of the retreat hall and gathering spaces..

What kind of meals are provided?

Most meals will be prepared onsite and are nourishing, seasonal, and aligned with yogic principles. Ingredients are thoughtfully chosen and meals are shared in community.

Fruit and tea early morning, Brunch and two dinners will be offered at the retreat.  Other nights one is free to eat at the local dining places, offering an opportunity to experience the surrounding area and gather in a different setting.

If you have dietary allergies or intolerances, please let us know in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate.

What is your cancellation policy?

A $650 CAD deposit is required to reserve your place and is non-refundable. The remaining balance will be refunded if cancellation is received at least 30 days prior to the retreat. What should I bring?

August in Belgrave is typically warm during the day and cooler in the mornings and evenings. Bring light, comfortable clothing for yoga and meditation, along with a sweater or shawl for cooler times of day.

Please also bring comfortable walking shoes, personal toiletries, a swimsuit, and a swim towel (the retreat centre provides bath towels but not towels for swimming).

This is a relaxed, nature-based setting, so clothing that allows ease of movement and time outdoors will serve you well. A suggested packing list will be shared prior to arrival.

What is the group size?

The retreat is intentionally limited to preserve intimacy and meaningful dialogue. We keep the group small enough to allow depth of engagement and personal connection.

Will there be time for personal questions with the teachers?

Yes. The retreat includes space for dialogue and inquiry within the group setting, allowing participants to engage directly with the teachings and ask questions as they arise. There will be satsanghas where everyone can share their experiences and interact with Dr. David Frawley and Yogini Shambhavi.

In addition, a limited number of private Jyotisha consultations with Dr. David Frawley and Yogini Shambhavi will be available during the retreat. These sessions are offered at an additional fee and may be requested after registration. Details will be shared with registered participants.

Is there Wi-Fi?

The retreat centre is intentionally Wi-Fi free, supporting a pause from screens so we can reconnect more fully with nature, practice, and one another. Cell phone reception is available in the area, so if needed you may still access the internet using your phone data or personal hotspot.
